Online Returns or Exchanges
We stand behind the quality of our merchandise. If for any reason you are not satisfied, we accept returns of unused merchandise in original packaging for refund within 30 days when accompanied by your original receipt. Please include a note in the shipment explaining reason for returning or exchanging the item or items.

It is highly recommended that you ship your return via United Parcel Service (UPS) with proper packaging and insurance.

10% restocking fee for returned merchandise over $200. Shipping charges are non-refundable.

Refunds generally appear on you credit card statement in one to two billing periods. Since all our online orders require credit cards as the method of payment, your refunds will take the form of a credit back to the same card used to make the original purchase.

This return policy applies to online purchases only. Please call us for information about our in-store return policy.

Damaged Merchandise
If your shipment arrives and appears damaged, just refuse the order. Give us a call at The Bowerbird
1-860-434-3562 and we'll send a new shipment to you right away.

If you open the shipment and it's damaged, be sure to keep the original packaging. Then call UPS at
1-800-742-5877 and ask for a "UPS Damage Call Tag" or call The Bowerbird at 1-860-434-3562 and we will call UPS for you.

When you place an order with The Bowerbird, we request your name, billing address, shipping address, credit card number with expiration date and email address. We consider this information private and keep this information on a secure server to protect it from outside parties. We use the information only for the limited purpose of processing your orders and notifying you of products or special offers that may be of interest to you (only if you ask to be includes on our emailing list). We do not share your private information with anyone.

To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the correct use of information, we have put in place appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online.

Sales Tax
If you live in Connecticut, or ship your order to Connecticut, where we have our physical store, we are required to charge you Connecticut state sales tax on your purchase.

We are unable to accept checks, cash, credit vouchers, or gift certificates for online purchases.

When You Will Be Charged
The credit card that you specify for your purchase will be charged when the order is shipped.


Shipping Method
Most merchandise on The Bowerbird online store will be shipped USPS to addresses within the continental U.S. If you request UPS, please note that UPS will not deliver to a Post Office Box. Please be sure to enter a street address when completing the shipment address on the site. Orders with an incorrect shipping address will incur a $10.00 correction fee.

Your order of in-stock merchandise will be processed and shipped within 72 hours of receipt. If your order is placed after 12 p.m. Monday through Friday, your order will be processed the next business day. We do not process orders on Saturday, Sunday or major holidays. You will receive an email with shipping information when your order has shipped.

International Shipping
At this point we regret that we will be unable to offer international shipping.

Multiple Shipments
Shipments to more than 1 address need to be placed as separate orders, and will be processed as such.

Order Status and Tracking
If you provided a valid email address when you ordered you will receive two emails. The first email will confirm your order and the second email will confirm your shipment.

Out of Stock and Back-Ordered Items
While we make every effort to have featured merchandise in stock, occasionally we are out of certain items. If we are out of stock or expecting a back-order on an item that you have ordered, you will receive an email notification with the expected ship date. If one item is on back-order and it is purchased along with other in-stock merchandise, we will ship the order to you minus the back-ordered merchandise.

Shipping Charges
Our merchandise varies greatly in size and weight. For this reason, our shipping rates are based on the actual weight of the products you order. To view shipping charges for items you would like to order, just click on My Cart. Your shipping charges will be instantly calculated. If you add or delete any items from your cart, simply click Recalculate on the My Cart page.

  • Turn left at bottom of ramp
  • Drive to second light and turn right
  • Turn right into Old Lyme Marketplace. We are last store, next to Post Office
From Points East
(East Lyme, Waterford, Groton/New London)
  • Take I-95 South to Exit 70, Old Lyme
  • At bottom of ramp, go straight
  • Turn first left into Old Lyme Marketplace. We are the first store
